(PDF with photos) June 18, 2018 – In May, Federalsburg Elementary School hosted their 3rd Annual Multicultural Night for the community with approximately 120 people attending. Guests learned about various cultures through food, crafts, and lessons. They made Guatamalan “worry dolls,” watched Pakistani dance performances, learned how to make tortillas, and took salsa lessons. There was also a wide variety of student artwork on display.
The highlight of the evening was a dance performance by school psychologist Dr. Makeda Greene who is originally from Trinidad and Tobago.
According to teacher and event organizer Erin Bodle, “The event brings together students, family, and community to celebrate the wonderful diversity of our school. Students and adults alike enjoy learning about the different cultures found right here in Federalsburg, and our English Learner (EL) students especially take great pride in shining a light on their heritage.”
