(PDF with photos) May 28, 2018 - Ridgely Elementary School’s Fuel Up to Play 60 (FUTP60) Team members were chosen to attend the FUTP60 Baltimore Ravens Touchdown Celebration Event on May 4th. The students were able to meet with Raven's punter Sam Koch, go out onto the field to run an obstacle course, have lunch, and receive awards for being a Touchdown School. All students were given a t-shirt, rally towel, hat, and a football.
This marks Ridgely’s sixth year as a FUTP60 School that earned the Raven’s Touchdown School designation. The team must complete six steps to qualify, such as officially beginning the program with an event and conducting activities throughout the year that promote healthy eating and activity. This year, the school’s kick-off event was a Walk to School Day that began at Martin Sutton Park.
Jenna Morris, FUTP60 program advisor along with Joshua Morris, stated, “Students has a great time celebrating their success in earning Touchdown School status! They loved getting to play on the field and earning cool prizes. We’re sure it’s a day they’ll always remember.”
Fuel Up to Play 60 is an in-school nutrition and physical activity program launched by National Dairy Council and NFL, in collaboration with the USDA, to help encourage today's youth to lead healthier lives.
