Caroline Students Sweep Regionals at FIRST LEGO League Challenge

(PDF) - Feb. 1, 2018 - On January 20th, teams from both Colonel Richardson Middle School and Lockerman Middle School competed in the regional competition for the FIRST LEGO Team, and were victorious throughout the event.

Caroline teams took the top spots, with Lockerman placing first in the championship and Colonel Richardson placing second. In other award categories, Colonel Richardson placed 1st in Core Values; Lockerman placed 2nd in Robot Design. In addition, Lockerman students received an invitation to submit their innovation to the Global Innovation Award, which only accepts 20 submissions per year.

Their success in the regionals resulted in both Colonel Middle teams and one Lockerman team heading to the state competition, which will be held at University of Maryland Baltimore Campus (UMBC) on February 24, 2018.

FIRST LEGO League (FLL) is a result of an exciting alliance between FIRST and the LEGO Company. Guided by adult mentors and their own imaginations, students solve real-world engineering challenges and develop important life skills. It provides students age 9-14 with a hands-on, interactive robotics program in a sports-like atmosphere.
