Have you ever felt that your child knows more about computers and social media than you? Have you wondered how you could learn more about technology without feeling stupid and in an open, non-threatening environment? Do you have lots of unanswered questions about how all this “stuff” works?
If you answered “Yes” to any of these questions, please plan to attend one of the Connect Carefully presentations in January 2018. Caroline County agencies have partnered together to create a new group called Growing Responsible Educated Electronic Neighborhoods (GREEN). Our goal is to educate Caroline County residents on safety and responsibility when using technology.
We will hold four events in January throughout Caroline County to begin the GREEN information series. On January 17, 2018, there will be sessions at Denton Fire Hall and the Preston Fire Hall beginning at 6:30 PM. The same presentations will be shared on January 18, 2018 at the Goldsboro and Federalsburg Fire Halls.
The purpose of these meetings is to begin the conversation about how parents and other caring adults can support our children and youth with using social media safely. Information about participant needs will be gathered to plan future information sessions. The format of these sessions will be informal with the emphasis being on educating everyone in our community in a comfortable setting where all questions are welcomed.
GREEN has members from the Caroline Sheriff’s Office,Caroline County Public Library, Caroline Department of Social Services, the State’s Attorney’s office, Caroline Health Department, Caroline Recreation and Parks, and Caroline County Public Schools. Special thanks to the Goldsboro, Denton, Preston and Federalsburg Fire Companies.
Please plan to join us on either January 17 or January 18, 2018 at 6:30 at one of the designated Fire Halls.
