Welcome to the start of the 2018 school year. This time of year is always very exciting for staff, students and family alike. Our staff has worked diligently to ensure schools are equipped to kick off another fantastic school year. They are ready to continue our charge to work collaboratively with Caroline County stakeholders to engage students in high quality instruction equipping them with college and career skills such as critical thinking, adaptability, and perseverance.
We will begin the new year with a focus on supporting the most critical factors that impact student achievement, our staff. To accomplish this, staff will participate in intense professional development on the Essentials of Learning. This professional development will be delivered in the form of staff coaching. As a result, your child may experience new opportunities to engage with peers and content.
Caroline County has welcomed 54 new teachers to its family. These staff have engaged in opportunities to build content knowledge and team with others to plan for the new year. You will see other new faces on our team in the capacity of principals, assistant principals, academic deans, teacher specialists and various support positions. I am excited to have such qualified team members who are dedicated to your children’s success.
In addition to focusing on staff professional development, I will prioritize the importance of all grade nine students being designated as “on track” as defined by the Maryland State Board of Education. Also, I will continue to build a Career and Technology Program accessible for all students with career paths that prepare students for occupations of livable wages.
After a great summer, I have a renewed sense of excitement and look forward to our continued work together providing all students with access to an educational program that meets their individual needs. I thank you for your continued support and look forward to seeing you throughout the year.
