Marcia Porter Named Caroline County Teacher of the Year

Lockerman Middle School Media Specialist Marcia Porter was named Caroline County Teacher of the Year!

Marcia Porter, a 22 year teaching veteran of Caroline County Public Schools, was named Caroline County Teacher of the Year for 2016.

Mrs. Porter was nominated by parent Shannon Drinnon for the honor. Superintendent of Schools John Ewald surprised Mrs. Porter with flowers at her school on Tuesday, April 19 and told she had been chosen out of 13 finalists for teacher of the year.

Lockerman staff, parents and central office administrators along with Mrs. Porter's family were on hand to celebrate with her. In her nomination, Mrs. Drinnon said, "Mrs. Porter is not just a 'librarian' she is so much more and a true unsung hero of LMS. She is an incredibly outstanding teacher."

Mrs. Porter will spend the next school year meeting with other county teachers of the year. She will also be Caroline County's representative for Maryland Teacher of the Year. A gala event is held each October to honor all of Maryland's county teachers of the year.
