Board News from November 3 Board of Education Meeting

  Members of the Denton Elementary School 4th and 5th Grade Chorus sang the Pledge of Allegeiance to open the public session of the November 3 Board of Education meeting.

 

 

 

 

RECOGNITIONS

Ayla Basar, pictured in the center, was recognized for winning the Caroline County Fifth Grade Spelling Bee. Basar is from Preston Elementary School Not pictured are the other two finishers - Joseph Turner (2nd Place), Greensboro Elementary and Olivia Christopher (3rd Place), Federalsburg Elementary.

 

 

 

  Madolyne Goodger, Colonel Richardson High School, was recognized for having her artwork chosen to appear in the Inaugural Student Artwork Exhibition at the Maryland House of Delegates. Also chosen was Hailey Holt of North Caroline High School.

 

 

 

North Caroline High School student Hunter Geisel was recognized for being named a National Merit Scholar.

 

 

 

 

 

Greensboro Elementary School was recognized for receiving a Maryland Character Education of the School Year Award.

 

 

 

 

 

Preston Elementary School was recognized for receiving a Maryland Character Education of the School Year Award.

 

 

 

 

 

 

  Colonel Richardson Middle School was recognized for receiving a Maryland Character Education of the School Year Award.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Colonel Richardson High School was recognized for receiving a Maryland Character Education of the School Year Award.

 

 

 

 

 

 North Caroline High School was recognized for receiving a Maryland Character Education of the School Year Award.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Colonel Richardson High School was recognized for winning the Bayside Athletic Sportsmanship Award for the 2014-2015 school year.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

CITIZENS/PUBLIC COMMENTS

Holly Porter, Greensboro Elementary School PTA treasurer, thanked the board of education for their support of GES and said they support a renovation and expansion of the elementary school.

  • Evening School Program Update by Dr. Andrea Berry, Supervisor of Minority Achievement.
  • 2015 ESMEC Energy Trust Update by Mr. Milton Nagel, Assistant Superintendent for Administrative Services.
  • Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) Assessment Update  by Dr. Patricia Saelens, Assistant Superintendent for Instruction.
  • Legislative Update by Board Member Mrs. Louise Cheek.
