Board of Education Recognizes Math Competition Winners During December Board Meeting

A team of three North Caroline High School students placed second during the recent Salisbury University Eastern Shore Mathematics Competition. The team of students Joshua Becker, Hunter Geisel and Jada Taylor placed second out of 19 teams from Delmarva area high schools. Becker, Geisel and Taylor were recognized by the Board of Education during the December board meeting.

  Two of the team members, Hunter Geisel and Jada Taylor were present to accept congratulations from Board vice president James Newcomb Jr., and Interim Superintendent Milton Nagel. Also pictured is mathematics teacher Mike Miller. In addition, Geisel placed second in the individual competition out of 57 students.




Kyleigh Harding's holiday artwork was chosen as the front for the Board of Education's annual holiday card. Harding is a student at Greensboro Elementary School. She is pictured with Board vice president James Newcomb Jr. and Milton Nagel, interim superintendent. The holiday card is sent out to other state school systems, legislators and other system stakeholders. It is also used for the school system's employee holiday card.




Scott VonDenBosch, center, was recognized for building the Dr. Seuss house at Federalsburg Elementary school's reading garden. The reading garden was dedicated at the school's inner courtyard. VonDenBosch is the husband of FES principal Nikki VonDenBosch.






The Board heard reports on Fine Arts and Physical Education from Dr. Cynthia Spicer, supervisor of instruction and Mr. Conrad Judy, supervisor of instruction.


The Board held discussions on the new Green Cleaning Policy, the 2015-2016 school calendar and the FY 2016 budget.
