Dr. Khalid Mumin announces resignation. Board of Education appoints interim superintendent

Caroline County Superintendent of Schools Dr. Khalid N. Mumin announced his resignation from the Caroline school system during the June 3, 2014 Board of Education meeting.

“Caroline County will always hold a special place in my heart,” said Mumin, during his resignation. “I am very appreciative of everything you have done.”

Mumin is accepting a job as the new superintendent of the Reading, Pennsylvania school district. He will continue in his job as Caroline superintendent until June 30. He said he would work during his remaining time in the county to ensure a smooth transition.

Board of Education President C. Tolbert Rowe thanked Mumin for his service and wished him well, “in your new endeavor.”

Rowe said the board has appointed Assistant Superintendent for Administrative Services Milton Nagel as interim superintendent for one year beginning on July 1. Rowe said Dr. James Orr would assist Nagel. Orr retired from the system in 2007 as an assistant superintendent.

“The intent of the board is to move forward,” said Rowe. He said they anticipate a smooth transition during the next three-week period. The board will begin the search for a permanent superintendent last this year.
