New Vaccine Requirements for Kindergarten and 7th Grade Students

Additional Vaccine Requirements for Kindergarten and 7th Grade Students

The Department of Mental Health and Hygiene recently added additional immunization requirements for the 2014-2015 school year, which will affect Kindergarten and 7th Grade Students.

Kindergarten students must now have two doses of varicella vaccine. Seventh grade students must have received a dose of Tdap (a booster for tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis) and a dose of meningococcal vaccine.

If you are uncertain if your child has received these vaccines, please contact your child's physician. An immunization record with the required vaccines must be provided to the school nurse. If the required documentation is not provided by the first day of school, students must do so within 20 calendar days or be excluded from school.

It is our goal that no student misses time from school. Current PreKindergartne and 6th grade students can provide required documentation at any time to your school nurse. If you have any additional questions, please contact your school nurse.
